Chapter-13 Do not do evil for evil; you shall not take revenge
Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse them. Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep. Live in harmony with one another; do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly; do not claim wiser than you are. Do not repay anyone evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all. If it is possible so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all. Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave room for the wrath of God; for it is written, "Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord." No, "if your enemies are hungry, feed them; if they are thirsty, give them something to drink; for by doing this you will heap burning coals on their heads." Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. Romans 12:14-21
Proclamation of the Good News
If I (Paul) proclaim the Gospel, this gives me no ground for boasting, for an obligation is laid on me, and owe to me if I do not proclaim the gospel! -1 Corinthians 9:16
The nature of love
Love is patient; love is kind; love is not envious or boastful or arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful. - 1 Corinthians 13:4-5
The resurrection of the body
Listen, I will tell you a mystery! We will not all die, but we will all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. For this perishable body must put on imperishability, and this mortal body must put on immortality. When this perishable body puts on imperishability, and this mortal body puts on immortality, then the saying that is written will be fulfilled: “Death has been swallowed up in victory.” “Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?”The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my beloved, be steadfast, immovable, always excelling in the work of the Lord, because you know that in the Lord your labour is not in vain. - 1 Corinthians 15: 51-58
Without committing sin we should live a holy life in this world. We should love God; God loves us. We should love all brethren. We shall live the divine living word of God!
God through the Holy Spirit writes on tablets of human hearts
And you show that you are a letter of Christ, prepared by us, written not with ink but with the spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts. - 2 Corinthians 3:3
Heaven is eternal
We look not at what can be seen but at what cannot be seen; for what can be seen is temporary, but what cannot be seen is eternal. -2 Corinthians 4:18
From God we will get a dwelling in Heaven
For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. For in this tent we groan, longing to be clothed with our heavenly dwelling. For while we are still in this tent, we groan under our burden, because we wish not to be unclothed, but to be further clothed, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life. He who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who has given us the Spirit as a guarantee. – 2 Corinthians 5:1-2, 4-6
We are the temple of the living God
We are the temple of the living God, as God had said, “I will live in them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people”.
The works of the flesh will bury us in hell
Now the works of the flesh are obvious: fornication, impurity, licentiousness, idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, anger, quarrels, dissentions, factions, envy, drunkenness, carousing and things like these. I am warning you, as I warned you before: those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. - Galatians 5: 19-21
